We had the pleasure of flying to Leeds with Cronache di Spogliatoio to meet and interview Willy Gnonto, the talented 19-year-old Italian forward of Leeds and the Italian National team. Our visit included a special opportunity for Gnonto to test our innovative smart shin guards, XSEED<\/a>, and share his opinion on the significance of utilising smart wearable devices and technologies in sport. Throughout our conversation we also examined the crucial role of data analytics in athlete growth and how it can shape and enhance performance. Furthermore, we uncovered valuable insights into Willy’s personal journey and continuous progress as a player in the Premier League, with a particular focus on his impressive ranking in xT passes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Player Development and Growth through Data Analytics and Technologies<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In order to assess his development and growth as a player and as an individual, we joined Gnonto on field with XSEED<\/a>, Soccerment\u2019s smart wearable technology that tracks and analyses athletic and technical performance, providing invaluable insights for self-improvement and levelling the playing field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We examined Gnonto’s data collected by XSEED<\/a> and highlighted his capabilities and the potential of these advanced wearable technologies. He had the opportunity to review his touchmap, crossmap, passmap, as well as details on the distribution of his right and left touches, among other valuable insights. This led us to ask him about the significance of utilising data-collecting tools to enhance technical skills. In response, Gnonto said: “In my opinion, it is highly important because with the advancements in technology, we now have access to a lot more data which allows you to improve more easily and faster. I find these tools not only interesting but also incredibly useful, and if given the chance, I would always make use of such tools.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After his performance analysis, Gnonto also shared: \u201cit\u2019s very important to have these tools, clubs help you a lot in this point of view. They are always trying to make available all the necessary gadgets, statistics and data for us to improve. From my point of view, you must use these tools, and I think instruments like XSEED<\/a> can be very important and useful for personal improvement.\u201d Hence, Gnonto highlighted the significance of our smart wearable technologies for individual players and the team as a whole. The term “xT” refers to Expected Threat, which in this case estimates a player’s ability to increase the probability of scoring for their team by completing passes and ball carries, based solely on their start and end location. This ranking highlights Gnonto’s ability to generate dangerous situations for his team through his passes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When asked about his approach to being such a constant threat in a highly competitive league like the Premier League, Gnonto stated, “I thrive on being at the centre of the action. I take great pleasure in generating goal-scoring opportunities for my team, even if I’m not the one directly scoring the goals. I also believe that my team’s playing style has played a significant role in my success, granting me the freedom to take calculated risks and explore various approaches.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trovo questi strumenti non solo interessanti ma anche incredibilmente utili, e se mi viene data l’opportunit\u00e0, ne farei sempre uso.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dopo l’analisi delle sue prestazioni, Gnonto ha aggiunto: “\u00e8 molto importante avere questi strumenti, i club ci aiutano molto da questo punto di vista. Cercano di mettere a disposizione tutti gli strumenti necessari, le statistiche e i dati per migliorarci. Il termine “xT” si riferisce alla Minaccia Attesa, che in questo caso stima la capacit\u00e0 di un giocatore di aumentare la probabilit\u00e0 di segnare per la propria squadra completando passaggi e portando la palla. Questa classifica mette quindi in evidenza la capacit\u00e0 di Gnonto di creare situazioni pericolose per la sua squadra attraverso i suoi passaggi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
